AhlulBayt News Agency: The Engineering Projects Department at the Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine has announced that the construction of the first floor of the Al-Kafeel Museum of Treasures and Manuscripts has reached 90% completion.
Engineer Dia Majeed al-Sa'egh, head of the department, stated that the museum project is part of the Old City’s expansion efforts and is being built on a 4,000-square-meter area at the beginning of Republic Street, on the southern side of the Shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
The project consists of six floors, which will house manuscript centers, restoration and maintenance facilities, and dedicated galleries for Islamic and heritage collections, including textiles.
Al-Sa'egh emphasized that the museum is being developed as part of a broader horizontal expansion plan, with the basement and first-floor construction structure now 90% complete. He reaffirmed that work is progressing according to schedule to ensure timely completion.
The museum building is considered a landmark project due to its strategic location and services. It will feature an 80-meter-high minaret, designed as a distinctive architectural element, and will be equipped with a panoramic interior, offering visitors a unique visual experience.
